About TAEPAA+
TAEPAA is a professional association for Australia's VET workforce. We support trainers, assessors, educators and VET practitioners through professional recognition, structured professional profiles, professional development, industry and regulatory updates, evidence and verification tools, and opportunities to engage with the wider VET profession.
Which membership class should I apply for?+
TAEPAA membership classes recognise different stages of professional development and participation in VET. Student membership supports eligible people currently studying. Trainer/Assessor is baseline professional recognition for practitioners who meet the applicable credential requirements. VET Educator recognises active trainers and assessors who also demonstrate current professional practice, vocational competence, industry currency and ongoing professional development. VET Practitioner recognises experienced professionals with broader demonstrated capability and evidence. Fellow and Distinguished Life Member recognise significant professional contribution. Affiliate membership is for people connected to VET who do not require Trainer Matrix recognition.
Eligibility & Code of Ethics+
Each membership class has specific eligibility and evidence requirements. TAEPAA members are expected to comply with the TAEPAA Code of Ethics and applicable professional standards, maintain appropriate professional and industry currency, and support quality training and assessment practice. Professional recognition remains subject to TAEPAA's membership, verification and professional conduct requirements.
Evidence, verification & assessment+
TAEPAA verifies evidence relevant to the membership class being applied for. Depending on the application, this may include training and assessment credentials, USI transcripts, tertiary qualifications, employment or current practice, vocational competence, industry currency, licences and registrations, and professional development. Applicants may be asked for additional information where evidence cannot be verified or further evidence is required.
What is the Trainer Matrix?+
The TAEPAA Trainer Matrix brings together a member's credentials, qualifications, vocational competence, industry experience, employment history, professional development and supporting evidence in one structured professional record. Student, Trainer/Assessor, VET Educator, VET Practitioner, Fellow and Distinguished Life Members have Trainer Matrix access. Affiliate members and free TAEPAA account holders do not have Trainer Matrix access.
Can I use a TAEPAA post-nominal?+
Eligible membership classes may be granted a TAEPAA post-nominal as part of their professional recognition. A post-nominal may only be used while the relevant membership and professional recognition remain current and is subject to TAEPAA's membership, professional conduct and recognition requirements.
Membership fees & payment options+
Membership fees vary according to membership class. Where monthly and annual payment options are available, applicants can select their preferred billing frequency before joining. The applicable membership fee and billing frequency are displayed before payment is completed.
Can students join TAEPAA?+
Yes. Student membership is available to eligible people currently undertaking relevant education or training. Applicants provide current enrolment details so TAEPAA can verify student status. Once approved, Student members receive their TAEPAA account, professional profile and Trainer Matrix access in accordance with Student membership conditions.
What happens if I don't meet the membership requirements?+
Where an application does not contain enough evidence to establish eligibility, TAEPAA may request further information. If the evidence does not support the membership class applied for, TAEPAA may advise the applicant of another membership class for which they may be eligible. Payment of a membership fee does not by itself establish professional recognition where eligibility and verification requirements apply.
Can I move to another membership class later?+
Yes. Members can apply for another membership class as their qualifications, experience and professional practice develop. Additional evidence or verification may be required before the new professional recognition is granted.
What happens if my membership expires or is cancelled?+
When membership ends, member-only benefits and professional recognition associated with that membership may cease. Where a post-nominal has been granted, it must no longer be used if the relevant recognition is not current. TAEPAA may retain membership and verification records in accordance with its legal, governance, privacy and record-keeping obligations.
Can professional recognition be suspended or revoked?+
TAEPAA professional recognition may be suspended, restricted or revoked in accordance with TAEPAA's governing documents, membership rules, Code of Ethics and disciplinary procedures. Applicable procedural protections and review processes apply.
Is my evidence publicly visible?+
No. Documents and evidence supplied for verification or stored within a member's account are not automatically displayed publicly. Professional information may be displayed through a member's professional profile, while supporting documents and verification evidence are managed separately under TAEPAA's privacy and access controls.
Membership for RTOs & organisations+
TAEPAA's membership framework is focused on individuals working within or entering the VET profession. Services for RTOs and other organisations may be developed separately, including workforce visibility, trainer profile sharing, verification and professional development services.
Can I reinstate a previous membership?+
Former members may apply to reinstate their membership. Where records remain available, TAEPAA may be able to reconnect previous professional development, profile, verification and evidence records. Current eligibility or verification requirements may still need to be satisfied.
